Dimanche/Sunday 21.07.2019 Hamars Ness. Fetlar island
Dimanche 21 juillet 2019

Last short ride this morning, we go up to say goodbye
to Andrew, Linsey left to drive their son Barry to Lerwick airport, he leaves today.
We knock gently, no answer, the house is quiet; we don’t insist and go down to
the boat. Andrew calls us a little later, they went to bed at 6 am and he was
still sleeping when we went to their home. We say goodbye and we hope to
welcome them to Norway one day. We leave Cullivoe around half-past twelve. We
will keep a special memory of this village, the welcome of Andrew and Linsey,
and the wedding. Thank you all. We leave two hours before high tide, so we have
enough water to get out of the marina (Maja could not get out at low tide,
there is not enough water) and have the current with us. We are not used to
currents of this force in Vestlandet,
and we are surprised by the difference that it makes: we are going at 7,1
knots, pushed by the current while our real speed, in the water is 3.2 knots.
Short and good crossing to the island of Feltar where we take the same place,
and, by chance, the board that we had borrowed is still there. As we arrive,
the ferry "Geira" leaves and Jeemie, her captain, waves to us . We
have lunch and leave for our last bike ride. The weather is sunny and it's nice
to ride and admire the landscape, these treeless hills, green and populated
with sheep. We cross the whole island of Fetlar from north-west (Hamars Ness, the
ferry port) to the southeast, Funzie. We have coffee and cake near the shop,
halfway, and arrive at Funzie Bay. We go back along the coast and admire Tresta
beach, a large sandy beach ... pity that the water is so cold. Back to the boat
and Jens looks again at the weather forecast and it's decided, we're leaving
tomorrow. Last diner and last night on the Shetland.
